Field-installable fiber optic connectors
Modern, powerful fiber optic networks like Fiber to the Home (FTTH) call for quick installation. There is a multitude of buildings where just a few connectors have to be installed mostly in confined space.
Nowadays, modern field-installable connectors can be installed on site as quickly and easily as connectors for copper cables. Strip the fiber, cut it to size, insert it into the assembly aid, insert the fiber into the connector, lock it – done! With a quick glance in the small inspection window of the connector the installer sees at once whether the connector is installed correctly or needs to be reworked. The optical parameters of the field-installable connectors are on the same high level as the ones of classic connectors that need curing and polishing. Installers who were excluded from the fiber optic market so far can not profit from FTTH projects. Due to the easy installation FFP connectors can also be used for quick on-site repairs.
