RJ45 Modules for 25 Gigabit Ethernet are Future-ready and Offer Maximum Investment Protection

RJ45 module 25G

Category 6A RJ45 modules can transmit up to 10 Gigabits per second. However the amount of data that has to be transmitted rises continually. Cat. 6A modules that can also transmit 25 Gigabits per second in future applications are future-ready and offer maximum protection of the investments made in IT cabling.

Standard-compliant and thus correcly RJ45 modules that can transmit up to 25 Gbit/s have to be assigned to category 6A. When such modules like the AMJ-SL 25G by Telegärtner exceed the specifications of this component category by far, they can transmit 25 Gigabit Ethernet 25GBASE-T over class I channel length of 30 meters when connected to category 7A or category 8.2 system cable. This, for example, was certified for the AMJ-SL 25G as a Type Approval by the independent an highly regarded test lab GHMT.

It has to be noted that the cabling standards do not recognize any sort of “restricted“ or “limited“ category 8. The much-quoted Technical Report ISO/IEC TR 11801-9905 applies to using and testing of installed cabling only. The report strictly demands category 8.1/8.2 components for new installations.

“Future-readiness and investment protection are among the top features of our AMJ-SL 25G“, says Marcel Leonhard, Director Business Units ICT & DCF at Telegärtner. “In order to offer our customers the best possible solutions for their individual needs, we decided to offer both standard-compliant module types: The AMJ Cat.8.1 for cabling infrastructures that shall transmit 25 or 40 Gigabit Ethernet from day one on, and the new AMJ-SL which exceeds the category 6A specifications that far that it can transmit 25 Gigabit Ethernet standard-compliant in the future. By this, we offer our customers once again far more than the standards demand."
