VSFF connectors (MDC, SN and CS)

More connections in less space has become a trend in fiber optic cabling as well. MDC, SN and CS are three compact connectors that have the potential to replace the LC duplex. Read on to find out more.
For applications with high port densities, VSFF connectors were developed to save precious space. The general term VSFF is an acronym for „very small form factor“. Today, the MDC, the SN and the CS connector are discussed every now and again. The ferrules of these three have an outer diameter of 1.5 mm just like the ones that are used inside of the LC duplex connector. The connector housings, however, are much smaller. The future will show which VSFF connector will become dominant in generic building cabling.
