What’s the difference between FTTH and FITH?
More and more homes are connected to the internet using an optical fiber. This is where one comes across the terms FTTH and FITH. What’s the difference between them?
Answer:
The fiber optic cable that enters a residential building from outside is called Fiber To The Home, FTTH. The fiber optic cabling that runs from the demarcation point to the fiber optic outlet inside of the building is referred to as Fiber In The Building, FITH.
Nobody knows everything. A comprehensive topic like IT cabling inevitably raises questions. This column gives answers to questions which reached Telegärtner’s Technical Helpdesk and which we consider interesting for everyone. Please do not hesitate to send us your questions, we will be happy to answer them. The questions will be published anonymously, of course.
