Different colours for fibre optic connectors and couplings make working much easier. One can see at first glance what fibre type is being used and thus knows the performance of the installed cabling. Certain colours have prevailed in practice, but not all of them are specified in the relevant wiring standards.

EN 50173-1:2011 for example specifies only beige and black for multimode connectors. Telegärtner offers its OM4 multimode connectors and couplings in the standard-compliant colour black by default. However, violet OM4 connectors have become more and more common in installations.

In order to offer customers a comprehensive product range, Telegärtner is expanding its product set and offers OM4 connectors and couplings in the non-standard-compliant violet colour upon request. The popular TICNET-Configurator, which offers quick and easy configuration of pre-assembled fibre optics solutions in the Internet, is already updated to reflect this new offering.
