Redundancy in structured cabling
Part 1: Distributors on the same network level
Corporate IT networks should be designed to manage interruptions. However it may well happen that a cable gets damaged. When redundant cables are installed, the data traffic can be re-routed until the damaged cable will have been repaired. This part introduces redundant cabling between distributors on the same network level.
EN 50173 and ISO/IEC 11801 recognize optional tie cables to connect distributors on the same network level. If for example the cable between the building distributor and a certain floor distributor fails, the date traffic can be routed from the building distributor to the floor distributor using the link to another floor distributor and the tie cable between the two floor distributors.
