End-to-end links recognized by international standards

20.02.2024 | EN 50173-20 recognizes various types of end-to-end links as “alternative cabling configurations“.

End-to-end links that connect a device directly to the horizontal cabling omitting a communication outlet are recognized by the international standard ISO/IEC 14763-4 as well as by the European standard EN 50173-20. The standards specify

• Modular Plug Terminated Link (MPTL)
• Direct Attach Cabling (DAC)
• End-to-End link (E2E link)

Examples for Modular Plug Terminated Link (MPTL), Direct Attach Cabling (DAC) and End-to-End Links (E2E Links). An End-to-End link can consist of up to five segments. Other configurations than the ones shown here are possible.
