Where can I buy standards?

05.09.2023 | Standards are important – and expensive. Few people know that some standards can be obtained or at least be read at no cost.

EN

EN standards are available in local language. As the EU has 27 members and 24 official languages. The best thing is to identify the national standards body and then to go to their website to look up where to by the national issue of the EN standards.

EN standards might be read at no cost at official info points. In Germany, for example, all DIN and DIN EN standards can be reat at the Standards Infopoints. However, this might differ from country to country.

IEC

IEC have a web shop of their own which can be reached under https://webstore.iec.ch/  (last accessed on July 05th, 2023).

ISO

ISO have a web shop of their own, too, which can be reached under https://www.iso.org/store.html  (last accessed on July 05th, 2023).

ANSI/TIA

American TIA standards can be purchased online in many web shops. TIA have a web shop of their own which can be reached under https://global.ihs.com/csf_home.cfm?&csf=TIA  (last accessed on July 05th, 2023).

IEEE

IEEE standards can be purchased in the IEEE standards store under https://www.techstreet.com/ieee?utm_source=standards&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=standards-referral (last accessed on July 05th, 2023).

Certain IEEE 802 standards can be downloaded at no cost after they have been published for at least six months as PDF files in the IEEE GET Program, which is great for students, universities and journalist. The IEEE GET program can be reached under: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/browse/standards/get-program/page/  (last accessed on July 05th, 2023).
